deputy struck at mcdonalds
A Sevier County Sheriff's Deputy was in the process of pulling over an older model Ford van around 1:30 A.M.. The van pulled into the McDonald's parking lot. Another deputy entered the parking lot from the other direction to stop the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Joey Curtis Galyon, 31 of 327 Jersey Drive, Sevierville hit the front end of the deputy's cruiser. Following the impact, the driver of the van attempted to drive back onto Chapman Highway. The first deputy slammed into the van forcing it into the McDonald's refuse container.
According to an eye witness, the deputies had to physically take the driver out of the van and throw him on the ground as he refused to comply with the deputies orders.
By this time, several other deputies had arrived.
Not only was Galyon handcuffed, but his feet were also tied.
Galyon was arrested on the following charges and held without bond:DUI, two counts of reckless endangerment, evading arrest, resisting arrest, failure to yield to lights & Sirens, assault, violation of implied consent law.
Galyon was placed in the cruiser. After a short time he was observed attempting to kick the read window out of the cruiser.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol officer was called in to investigate the incident since a Sheriff's cruiser was involved in the wreck.
