Charter Garfield Bales, age 78 of Gatlinburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Mr. Bales was retired from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park Service and was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific during World War II . He was preceded in death by his first wife Dixie L. Parton, brother Carl Bales and sister Mable “Maybell” Moore.
