He had suffered a long illness, but had been exceptionally cared for by his loving wife. Hollis was a member of First Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge. He grew up in the Wilhite community of Sevier County, and graduated from Sevier County High School in 1959. He began his 41 year career at Cherokee Textile Mills in 1960. Hollis was preceded in death by his parents, Minuard and Edith Hurst, and an infant brother, Rex. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Tom Sharp; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Melissa Hurst; grandchildren, Brandon and Lori Sharp; step-grandchildren Trevor, Ariel and Katie Bolin; great-grandchildren, Nate Sharp and Cheyenne Gamage; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nell and Eddie Wayne King and Alma and Richard Laurent; half-brother and sister-in-law Keith and Jackie Hurst; nieces, Lisa Taylor and husband Brett, Brendal and Ava Hurst; nephews, Joseph Laurent and wife Gaby and Henry Hurst; great-nephews Bradley and Drew Taylor; favorite uncle, Sam Hurst and aunt Blanche; special friend and fishing buddy, Clell Dunn; and other extended family. An extra special acknowledgement goes to his cousin Jim Ball and wife Faye for them tirelessly coming to cut his hair every month for the last 12 years during his illness. Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Royce Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens.
