Graveside services for Mr. Walter L. Kitchen, age 81, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Gilley Hill Cemetery in Cannon County, TN. Mr. Kitchen passed away Sunday at the Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro.
Mr. Kitchen was born in Clearfield Co., PA, the son of the late Armstrong Emory and Gertrude Kellog Kitchen. He was a carpenter in the construction business. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kitchen was preceded in death by two daughters, Darlene Allen and Kathy Waldrop; six brothers, Wayne, Earl, Ed, Ernest, Claton and Cal; three sisters, Ruth, Ester, and Bertha; and one grandchild, Russ Allen.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Kitchen of Manchester; one son, Jackie Kitchen of Newport, TN; three daughters, Vickie Clinard of Hendersonville, Sharon Shults of Newport, TN, and Terry Redmen of VA; three sisters, Norma, Lettie, and Cynthia; his children’s mother, Helen Kitchen; seven grandchildren, Fred Allen, Melissa Curtain, Amanda Curtis, LeeAnn Waldrop, Evan Shults, Hunter and Hallie Kitchen; five great grandchildren, Katlyn Allen, Kelsey Allen, Ashlynn Waldrop, Maddie Curtis, and Huston Allen; special great nephews, Mike and Jim Brink; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Directions from Manchester to Gilley Hill Cemetery: Starting at red light on Woodbury Highway at Cracker Barrel, go 10.4 miles. Turn left at Midway Church of Christ. Go 3.5 miles, always bearing to the right. Turn left and go 1.5 miles. Turn left at the church sign. The road will dead end at the cemetery
