Jerry Loveday seeking new term as city Alderman From Submitted Reports April 05, 2007 Jerry Loveday is seeking a second term as Alderman for the City of Sevierville in the upcoming May 3 election. "It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of Sevierville for the past four years," he said. "I am extremely proud of what we as a community have accomplished in such a short time. Is this not an exciting time to live in Sevierville? I want to continue to be a part of the planning and completion of the goals and projects that we have started." Loveday's parents are Lillian Loveday and the late Leonard Loveday of Sevierville. His wife Sharon (Whaley) has been the owner of Town & Country Hair Designs in downtown Sevierville for over 30 years. They have one daughter, Kelly, who teaches kindergarten at Northview Elementary School. She is married to Joe Arwood of Sevierville. Loveday is retired after 31 years with the United States Postal Service. He graduated from Sevier County High School in 1969, after which he spent four years in the Air Force and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. "I believe that Sevierville has now become its own destination city along with Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We must continue to work together in the areas of solid waste, transportation and stormwater runoff issues to better serve our citizens," he said. "We have also partnered with the county to provide funding for a new park, library and a new regional hospital which will benefit not only the City of Sevierville, but also the county as a whole. "I look forward to working with all of the cities and county on new projects such as ridgetop and hillside legislation which will protect our environment.
