LUTHER , ALBERT MATTHEW, JR. (AB) - age 74, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer and kidney disease. Ab was a Knoxville native, a Central High School graduate and a 1952 graduate of Western Kentucky University. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville and a faithful member of the Kessel/Burnett Sunday school class. He was long-time Owner and President of Knoxville Business College. He was very active in The Southeastern Business College Association and was named their 1969 Outstanding Man of the Year. He served as President from 1972-1973. He was a member of The Downtown Salesmen Club and The Kiwanis Club and was Founder of The Clearidge Bottled Water Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Luther , Sr. mother of his children, JoAnn Elston Luther son, A.M. (Matt) Luther , III. Survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor Roberts Luther daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Karl Walker grandson, Joshua Craven and special cousins, Mary Costa and Billy Wallace. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Paul Branca, Dr. Crystal Gue and especially to Dr. Denise Harris-Rivers and the staff of The Dialysis Clinic, Jeff and Sheila Pass, the staff of U.T. Hospice and the staff of St. Mary's Residential Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Ab during his illness. He was much loved and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The First Baptist Church Building Fund or to the charity of your choice. A celebration of his life is planned for Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Knoxville, 510 West Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902. The family will receive friends following the service. Local arrangements provided by Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
