Lucy Messer, age 93, of Del Rio passed away Friday, October 17, at the home of her daughter in Newport, following a lingering illness. She faithfully attended Piney Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Brown Messer, mother and father, James Wiley and Kitty Woody Willis, step mother, Anna Mae Banks Willis, sister, Viola Fox, brothers, Roy and Monroe Willis.
She is survived by her children Bobby and Thelma Messer, Clyde E. and Joyce Messer of Del Rio, Sue and Chester Suggs of Newport, Mary and Warren Stewart of Sistersville, W. VA., sisters, Janette Young of Zirconia, N. C., Rachel Fox, Beulah Grigsby, Vista Walker, Thelma Hill of Del Rio, Kathleen Toby of Bybee., brothers, Ephraim and Paul Willis of Del Rio, U. A. Willis of Newport. She is also survived by eight grandchildren Ricky and Tabi Messer , J. D.. and Tammy Messer of Del Rio, Russell Suggs of New York, N.Y., Derek and Lauran Suggs of Johnson City, Jamie and Alisha Messer of Newport, Wesley Stewart, Sistersville, W. Va. Kathy and Darius Bible Del Rio and Teresa and Jeff Williams, Del Rio, great grandchildren Dustin Williams, Shane Messer both of Del Rio, Matthew Austin Stewart, Sistersville, W. VA., Megan Bible, Darissa Bible, Kayla Messer, Chelsey Williams, Emily Messer all of Del Rio, Kayla Stewart and Shelby Stewart both of Sistersville, W. VA.,
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2008 at the Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Murr officiating.
Interment will be in the Clark Cemetery in Del Rio.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the building fund at Piney Grove Baptist Church or Northport Baptist Church.
Brown Funeral Home is in charge.
