Ruth Cate Burns, 92, of Chattanooga, died Friday, December 2, 2011. Mrs. Burns had lived most of her life in Maryville, only moving to Chattanooga in 2006 to be near family. She was a longtime member of Maryville First Baptist Church. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Burns; parents, Tim and Velma Murrell Cate; brother, Fred Cate; and sister, Zita Marie Jenkins. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Marie and Hugh Kendall, Carol and Jeff Minnis, both of Chattanooga; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Colleen) Kendall of Agoura Hills, Calif., David (JanaRae) Kendall of Knoxville, Carrie Minnis of Chattanooga; one great-grandson, Caleb Kendall; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2011, in the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Jimmy Ray Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville at 2:30 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 10–11 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E.
