Maydell Atchley, age 97, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Maydell was a fabulous cook and fed everyone that entered her front door. Before her health declined in recent years she was puttering around in her yard tending to her flowers, cooking, and crocheting afghans and other items for friends and family. She was a homemaker, mother, and caregiver. She was preceded by her husband, Raymond Atchley; sons, Bill Atchley and Danny Atchley; mother; 2 sisters; and 2 brothers. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Gina Atchley; daughters and son-in-law, Burma Carr and Mary and Don Scates; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Atchley; grandchildren, Vickie Webb, Robin (Eddie) Moles, Gary (Penny) Atchley, Randy(Kristi) Atchley, Chris Carr, Katrina Benton, Jeff Rutherford, Donna (Randy) McNeil, Kelly Scates, and Gina (Jeff) Reynolds; several great and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Karen Williams and Becky Grubb. The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedysis Hospice Care for the compassionate care provided during the last few weeks. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Services will follow at 8:00pm with Chaplain Michael Beach officiating. Family and friends will meet at Berry Funeral Home on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 12:15pm to go in procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for a 1:00pm graveside service.
