U.S. Veteran William (Bill) Ollie Templeton, of Newport, age 81, born July 25, 1925, went to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at his home, after a lengthy battle with cancer, surrounded by his family whom he loved dearly. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Newport. He was a veteran of the Unites States Navy, having served during WWII, and was discharged with full honors. He was preceded in death his friend and wife, of 50 years, Bobbie Jean Watts Templeton, as of October 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Sylvester and Annie Ruby Templeton of Starkville, Mississippi; brothers, Aven Sylvester Templeton and Charles (Buddy) Edward Templeton all of Starkville, Mississippi; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Homer and Edna Watts; grandparents, Franklin Will and Omie Baynayam Thompson and Ollie Alton and Ruby Francis (Roberts) Templeton. His is survived by his only daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Michael Holt of Newport; his only granddaughter, Jenna Nicole Holt; and great grandchildren, Jaylon Lynn and the twins, Jacob Isiah and Nathan Gabriel Holt. He is also survived by a host of special nieces and nephews-in-law; special sister-in-law, Jennie Lou Talley and her husband Bufford; a host of special loving in laws on both sides of the family; and many special friends who were very dear to him. Bill will be missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Friday , July 28, 2006 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Charlie Boggan, Dr. Rich Lloyd and Rev. Charlie Owensby officiating. Entombment will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 29, 2006 in Resthaven Memorial Mausoleum with full military honors, with Tennessee Army National Guard. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Friday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Newport, 261 East Broadway, Newport, TN 37821, the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
