WACHTER, MSGT JOSEPH LOUIS age 89, of Maryville, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Joe was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Joe was very proud of his military service and loved his country with a burning passion. He was a very unique, but caring person with a giving, loving heart, and always a gentleman. Perhaps the best description of Joe was "He makes friends and holds them." He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Walker Wachter ; parents, Joseph and Rose Wachter ; and sister, Mildred R. Wachter . Survivors include his special friend, Juanita Galyon of Maryville; foster son, Juan Richard Diaz of Chicago, IL; cousins, Monsignor Joseph Stoerlein of Absecon, NJ; Alma Houder of Southampton, PA; brothers-in-law, Ira, Charlie, and Buck Walker; and many loving neighbors and friends. Graveside services will be 1:30 P.M., Monday, October 11, 2010 at the Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, with Full Military Honors.
