Conway Bernard Wilson, Sr. passed away on December 7, 2013, at his home on Bogard Road. His wife, Estalee Wilson was by his side. She was devoted to caring for him and their love and loyalty to each other were evident throughout 73 years of marriage. Conway celebrated his 103 years on August 17th with his family by his side. He was born on August 17, 1910 to parents Clay and Margaret Wilson in the Bogard Community of Cocke County. He was preceded in death by a brother, Estel Wilson; sisters, Norma Wood, Artel Click, Georgia Bryant, Ardeth Dixon and Bonnie Wilson. He was also preceded in death by an infant grandson. He is survived by three sons, Conway Wilson (Lois), Jack Wilson (Ruth), and Charles Wilson (Nora); two daughters, Peggy Wilson and Teresa Hammontree (Calvin); brother, Eual Wilson (Maudella); grandchildren, Jeff Wilson (Julie), David Wilson (Andria), Connie Summey (Doug), Jennifer Cothron (Jason), Josh Hammontree (Xiomara), Charity Barrs (Shannon), and Joel Hammontree. He was loved by eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Conway worked many years as a carpenter. He also enjoyed farming and was an avid fly fisherman. While he was healthy, he faithfully attended Middle Creek Church of God. Conway was loved by all those who knew him and smile and sparkle in his eyes will never be forgotten. He will be missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express gratitude to Smoky Mountain Home Health and to the nurses who diligently cared for him during the past several years. Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Hammontree and Rev. Steve Shults officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bryant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Conway Wilson, Sr. dies at 103

NEWPORT—Funeral services were held Monday evening at Manes Funeral Home for Conway Bernard Wilson, Sr., one of Cocke County’s oldest citizens.
Wilson died Saturday at his Bogard Road home at the age of 103. At his side was his wife of nearly 73 years, Estalee Bryant Wilson.
Born August 17, 1910, Wilson was one of nine children of Clay and Margaret (Spurgeon) Wilson, who were living in the Middle Creek community at the time.
