McCARTER , JOHN H . - age 98 of Knoxville , passed away Saturday April 5 , 2003 at Hillcrest North Nursing Facility. John was born July 2, 1904 in the Sugarlands area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the union of John and Sorona McCarter, having been their last surviving child. Preceded in death by wife, Vola McCarter son in law, J.C. Ogle and granddaughter, Lori McCarter. Survived by daughters and sons in law, Emma Ogle, Carolyn Jackson and husband, Charles sons and daughters in law, J.R. and Dorothy, Larry and Frankie, Jerry and Janet and Steve and Joyce McCarter ten grandchildren eight great grandchildren two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday April 6, 2003 in Mynatt's Chapel with Rev. Jim McCarter officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service with Rev. Harry Whetsell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home.
