Bertha Sue Kendrick Fredlaw was born August 16th, 1931 in Newport, Tennessee. She was a graduate of the Tanner High School in Newport, and after graduation she moved to Brooklyn in New York City, where she lived for many years. Upon her return to her childhood home-place of Newport, she had loved and enjoyed the remaining days of her life, as a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Creed Kendrick of Newport, Tennessee. Bertha Sue had a strong faith of God in her life, and she was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Newport, Tennessee. She is survived by her husband, James “Sid” Fredlaw, of Newport; her beloved sons, Anthony S. Creed Price of Newport; and Turhan D. Thomas of Sevierville, Tennessee; daughter-in-law, Joyce Thomas of Sevierville, Tennessee; her loving grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Tabitha Carpenter and Turhan D. Thomas, II all of Newport, Tennessee; Marcus Price and Ronnie Price both of Morristown, Tennessee; and Donnie Price of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Jesse Jones, Jr, officiating and Reverend Billy Davis will do the eulogy.
