Archie J. Norwood of Seymour, TN left his earthly home with his wife at his side and arrived in his heavenly home on January 12th, 2013.
Preceded in death by his parents Ples W. and Flora Burkhart Norwood, brother P.W. Norwood, and daughter-in-law Lorna Norwood.
Survived by wife and soul mate of 57 years Gail McNallie Norwood, devoted, loving children Jim and Becky, son-in-law Brian Herring, and beloved granddaughters Abby and Mandy Herring, brother Wilburn Norwood, nephews Steve and Ron Norwood, brother-in-law and spouse James (Ben) and Jean Murphy, God-son Jeff Majors, special lifelong friends Bob Carter, Frank and Vicki Henderson, Joe and Sheila Dunson, Billie Perkins, Nancy Hall, Kathy Hodge, Margaret Scott and Seymour Sharing Group.
Archie grew up in Pennyrile community graduating from Young High School, Knoxville Business College and Knoxville electronics. He served with the Army 361st Engineer Division during the Korean War and after being honorably discharged opened Western TV Service in Knoxville. He then went to work with Pinnacle Sales Company acquiring many new friends including the Gleason family, Rick Kuhlman, Leroy Acuff, and Doug Atkins.
He became a Christian at a young age while attending New Hopewell Baptist Church; and was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church upon his death.
Archie's life was filled with fun times spent with family, friends, the "over the hill" gang, Seymour Sharing Group and his church family. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Gail and relaxing on the river bank where we can still hear him saying "It doesn't get any better than this." One of his greatest joys was being able to spend his retirement years with his granddaughters Abby and Mandy.
