===================================
Robert McGaha lived with his family in the Cosby area. One Winter during the Civil War, Mr. McGaha did not have enough clothing to keep his body protected. Frostbite damaged his feet so much so that the bones showed through. One day four soldiers came to the McGaha home and asked for something to eat. Since they were dressed in the Union uniforms Mr. McGaha invited them in for a meal. As they were finishing the meal, Mr. McGaha heard someone coming and thinking that it was the enemy, said to his guests. "Come on boys! You can go out the back way." What Mr. McGaha didn't know was that his guest were Rebels dressed in uniforms of the North. When the men got outside, one of the soldiers turned to the host, put a gun in Mr.McGaha's mouth, and shot him as his horrified children watched.
