Andrew “Joe” Wise, age 81, of Newport, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2001, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
He was a veteran of World War II and served in Europe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Mary Marlowe Wise; five brothers, Veron, Avery, Dallas, Steve, and Edward Wise; and three sisters, Louise Suggs, Ada Baker, and Maggie Wyatt.
He is survived by his step-children, Tommy Douglas and Richard Douglas, both of Cleveland, Ohio; and Alene Worthington and Alice Hill, both of Newport; He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer and Darlene Wise, Sr., of Bybee; Cecil (Lightning) and Pat Wise, of Newport; Clifford and Janice Wise, of North Carolina; sisters, Madalene and Vashta Ruth Wise, of North Carolina; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Williamson officiating.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts DAV Chapter #102 conducting military rites.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
