Jesse Clint "J.C." Melton Sr., 91, of Sevierville, Tenn., and formerly of the Union Hill community of Morgan County, died Monday, March 7, 2011, in Wellington Place Assisted Living in Sevierville.
Mr. Melton was born April 9, 1919, in Bluff City, Tenn., to John and Gertrude Richards Melton. He was married to the former Ollie Lea Ownby (Melton) who preceded him in death September 3, 2006.
He was a retired paint inspector for Redstone Arsenal, had lived in the Sevierville area for the past four years and attended New Canaan Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Jesse C. "Clint" and Teresa Melton of Wears Valley, Tenn.; daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Phil Grames of Lacey's Spring; two grandchildren and in-laws: Leigh Anne and Chris Davis and Michael C. and Amber Melton; and four great-grandchildren: Tyler Davis, Andrew Davis, Emma James and Parker Melton.
The graveside service was at 4 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at New Canaan Cemetery in Union Hill with Shane Wheeler officiating and Brindlee Mountain Chapel and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.
