VALENTINE , CARL E. - born July 23, 1927 died October 23, 2003 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Carl graduated from Everett High School in 1945 and attended Georgia Tech on a football scholarship. He was a World War II Veteran. Carl was an athlete and excelled in football as a younger man and golf as an adult. He was an avid UT fan always saying his blood ran deep orange. He was a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Preceded in death by: mother, Mae Hartsell Valentine father, Arley H. Valentine nephew, Ed Valentine . Survivors include: wife, Gail Tipton Valentine sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony (Tony) and Janice Valentine , David and Teresa Valentine step-daughter, Julie and husband Joe Hylwa step-son, Kevin and wife Angela Jones grandchildren, Christy, Evan, Cassi, Ty, Erica and Jason brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy & Wilma Valentine , Earl & Sarah Nell Valentine , Frank & Shirley Valentine sister, Hazel Betts. Funeral service will be at 6:30 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2003 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Dr. Allen Raines officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 2003 at Grandview Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to: Knox Area Rescue Mission or Salvation Army. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:30 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2003, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000,
