Mr. Ralph Roberts, age 75, of Newport, passed away Wednesday morning, May 1, 2013, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Ralph was an avid hunter, fisherman, and all around outdoorsman. He retired from TDOT after 40 years of service. Ralph was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Claudine Herndon Roberts, parents Ray and Jettie Valentine Roberts, sister Pauline Williams Barnes, and brothers Bill Roberts and Lynn Roberts. He is survived by his daughter Angela (Angie) and husband Rodney (Opie) Mathis of Newport, a special nephew Dennis and wife Mollie Williams of Cosby, sister Faye Sauceman of Newport; sisters-in-law Julia Roberts of OH; Karin and husband Jackie Barrington of TX and Tammie Herndon of Newport; brothers-in-law Donnie and wife Helen Herndon of Newport and Ricky and wife Debbie Herndon of Bybee; special niece Bobbie Jenkins of Cosby; special great-nephews Wade and Lucas Williams of Cosby and a host of family and friends.
