UNDERWOOD , MARY JENKINS - born January 17, 1923 age 79, of Knoxville passed away Friday, May 24, 2002. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by: husband, Gilbert Underwood ; parents, George and Molly Jenkins; brothers, Jack and Tommy Jenkins; sister, Peggy Smith. She is survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, John and Alice Underwood of Acworth, GA, Allen and Sharon Underwood of Knoxville; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Roy Edwards, Andy and Bob Sterchi, Nancy and Ed Brown all of Knoxville. Grandchildren, Kelly Hibbett of Mt. Juliet, Julie Gunter of Knoxville, Jill Gilbert of Louisville, KY, Candace Keck of Nashville, Allen Underwood of Knoxville, Johnny Underwood of GA, Whitney Donnachie of NJ, Bert Underwood of GA, Louis Sterchi, Lindsey Gates, Megan Gates all of Knoxville; great grandchildren, Abby Underwood , Carver Hibbett, Preston Gilbert, Emily Underwood , Jack Gilbert, Mary Kathryn Gunter, Caroline Hibbett and Lucy Gilbert; brothers, Jim Jenkins, Charles and wife Ann Jenkins all of Clinton, Kenneth and wife Elizabeth Jenkins of Knoxville; sisters, Evelyn Brooks of Knoxville, Betty and husband Mayford Watson of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Pat and Joyce Jenkins of Knoxville. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Riverview Baptist Church with Revs. David Watson and Don Hensley officiating. Graveside services will follow at Riverview Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Allen, John and Bert Underwood , Louis Sterchi, Berry Jenkins, Mark Watson. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riverview Baptist Church, 410 Old Blacksferry Ln, Claxton, TN or St. Mary 's Residential Hospice, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
