THARP , MR. FRED E. "RED EYE" - age 72, of Luttrell, born April 6, 1929, passed away Friday July 6, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center after a brief illness. Member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Retired from KUB. Preceded in death by parents, Charlie V. and Rettie (Hickle) Tharp and many loving friends. He is survived by wife of 48 years, Lena Mae Lody Tharp ; sons and daughters in law, Denny and Marty, Conley "Abe", Randy and Polly, Fred Allen and Betty, Charlie and Doris, all of Luttrell; grandchildren, Denver, Rachell, Corey, Matthew, and Tyler Tharp ; step grandchildren, Shawn Walton, Sandy Lineham, Derrick Beeler, Tommy and George White, all of Luttrell; sisters and brothers in law, Thelma and Newell Bailey, Zelma and James Parker, all of Corryton, Nellie Corum of Halls; special mother in law, Trula Lody of Maynardville; sister in law, Alice Guinn; uncle, Rev. Verlin Hickle; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at New Friendship Baptist Church, with Rev. Joe McCoy and Rev. Gary Tolliver officiating. Music by New Friendship Singers, Debbie Campbell and others. Interment immediately following service in Baker's Cemetery. Pallbearers: Denny Tharp , Charlie Tharp , Greg Corum, Jack Hickle, Steve Tharp , David Atkins, Jeff Atkins, Jack Wyrick, Jeff Chesney, J.D. Chesney, Coy Groves, And Tim Atkins. Honorary pallbearers: Bill Cole, Kenny Hickle, John Hickle, Joe Hickle, J.B. Beeler, Leslie Corum, Jerry Tharp , KUB Retirees, and all who knew and loved him. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Ailor Mortuary, Maynardville.
