Geneva Painter Stennett, 85, of Dalton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Whitfield County on May 25, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Susie Johnson Painter. She was a longtime member of Beaverdale Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by father of her children, Wilce Stennett; sons, Gene and Ralph Stennett; infant sister, Ruby Lee Painter; sister, Francis Kendrick; brothers, Emmett, Isaac, Virgil, Henry, and George Painter; great granddaughter, Christina Morris; great-grandson, Hunter Boutwell; granddaughter, Darline Stennett Morris; and son-in-law, Kenneth Jones.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Grace Jones Stiles and Johnny Stiles of Dalton; grandchildren, Sandra and Randy Hedden of Dalton; Allen and Amy Jones of Chatsworth; Gary Jones of Crandall, Darryl Stennett of Cohutta, W.L. Stennett of Cleveland; Mary Jean Stennett of Conasauga, Tenn., Lisa and Heath Ewton of Rocky Face, Tonya and Jeff Boutwell of Hixson, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Elden and Katie Hasty of Dalton, Brandon and Crystal Hedden of Dalton; Kaley and Baley Jones of Crandall, Lorelie Ewton of Rocky Face; Allison and Alyssa Jones of Chatsworth, Jennifer and Cameron Flint of Cleveland, Bruce Stennett of Dalton; great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Remington Hasty of Dalton, Becca and Hunter Flint, Jasmine Stennett of Dalton and a baby girl, Lilly Rose Hedden on the way; daughters-in-law, Lorina Stennett of Cleveland, and Betty Stennett of Rocky Face; sisters, Pauline Bryant of Dalton, Ethel Mullis of Hixson, Virginia Pane of Ringgold; special friends, Edna Dillingham, Betty Arnold, Paul and Sue Armstrong and Johnny and Brenda Caldwell; nieces and nephews.
The funeral is today at 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Benny Price and the Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating.
Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to Beaverdale Baptist Church.
