Eugene Robinson Murrell, age 94, of Newport, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville. He was a Christian and attended English Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Cora Murrell; brothers, Carl, Ray, and J.D.; sisters, Grady Noris, Belle Butler, and Swannie Breeden. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madaline Templin Murrell; sisters-in-law, Polly Murrell, Johnny Wilson, Joyce Rolen; brother-in-law, Bill Templin; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all who were very special to him; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5 o 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Baxter Templin Cemetery. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may register online at www.newportfunerals.com.
