THORNTON, ESTEL - age 79 of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006, at the Parkwest Medical Center. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was retired from Martin-Marietta. Estel served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Past Master and member of the Chota Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners where he served as Past Captain of the Provost Guard. He was an Avid bowler. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Allen and Eva Fain Thornton; brothers, Floyd, Rex, Glen and R. B. Thornton; sisters, Ina Thornton, AllaVee Sims, Mary Lethco and Gladys Thornton. He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Helen Snapp Thornton; son, Ron Thornton and wife Robin of Lenoir City; daughters, Shirley Thornton Holland and husband Chuck of Knoxville, Rita Thornton Helton of Nashville; grandchildren, Gary Alan Helton, Ron Michael Helton, Britni Nicole Holland, Cara Elizabeth Holland, Charles Benjamin Holland, Zachary Estel Thornton and Caleb Michael Thornton; brother, Roy Thornton and wife Almeda of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday with Funeral Services to follow at 2 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Trotter and Rev. Jim Clayton officiating. A Masonic Service will follow. Interment will be in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens with full military honors conferred by VFW Post 5150, American Legion Posts 120, 70 and 256.
