Glenice Talbot Goldsmith died Sunday, December 15, 1996 at Child's Nursing Home. A recent resident of Nelson House, 5 Samaritan Rd., she lived the past eighteen years in Bradenton, FL. Born in Edmeston, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Edith Langworthy Talbot, and sister of the late Curtis Lyle Talbot, and Lucille Talbot Huffcutt. She lived most of her life in Richfield Springs, NY, where she raised her family. She worked for the New York Telephone Company and retired in 1978 after 43 years of service. Known as 'G.G.' to her many friends, she was a community activist all her life. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a Founding Member of the First Evangelical Free Church in Bradenton, where she was the Church secretary. She served in the American Legion Post in Richfield Springs and the Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a popular speaker performing the comic role of 'Lizzie Tish' for many years. Survivors include: her husband, George F. Goldsmith, Sr., Ilion, NY; her children, George F. Goldsmith, Jr. and his wife Jeanne Chenel Goldsmith, Latham, NY; Donna G. Hellings, wife of the late Frederick (Ted) Hellings, Hendersonville, NC; Susan G. Mack and her husband the Reverend Arthur R. Mack, Lancaster, NY; and her grandchildren, Jacquelyn Goldsmith, Troy, Jennifer Goldsmith, Waterford, Geoffrey and Justin Goldsmith, Latham, Kara and Daniel Mack, Lancaster, NY, and their half brothers, U.S. Army Captains David and Andrew Mack. She is also survived by five brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law and their families; several nephews and nieces, and their families; and beloved cousins Mary Sue Conklin Willie, her husband Dr. Charles V. Willie and their children, and the Reverend E. (Betsey) Conklin Bueschel, her husband David Bueschel and their children. Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home and 10:00 in the Chapel at Nelson House with the Reverend Walter Collins, officiating. Interment will be at Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations in memory of Glenice Goldsmith be made to the American Cancer Society, 1450 Western Avenue, Albany, NY, or St. Peter's Hospice, 315 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY, 12208.
