Nancy "Joyce" Spurgeon, 55, of Cosby, went to be with her Lord Monday, April 3, 2006, in Knoxville. Joyce was a candle maker by trade and a member of Holders Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Leona (Giles) Fowler; daughter, April Spurgeon; mother and father-in-law, Connie and Ellis Spurgeon; and brothers-in-law, Verlin and Vernon Spurgeon. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Virgil Spurgeon; daughters, Jennifer and son-in-law, Rob Napieralski, of Cosby, and Wendy and son-in-law, Charlie Grooms, of Cosby; sister, Kathy, and brother-in-law, Rick Aldridge, of Cosby; grandchildren, Courtney Napieralski and Phoebe and Gracie Grooms. Joyce will also be sadly missed by her niece, Ashley Aldridge, and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 5, 2006, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Brady and the Rev. Jr. Gorrell officiating. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Waters-Large Cemetery. Brown Funeral Home has been honored to provide the final arrangements for Mrs. Nancy "Joyce" Spurgeon.
