G-P grad dies in wreck
GATLINBURG - Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a fiery wreck early Friday morning that claimed the life of a recent Gatinburg-Pittman High School graduate.
Nicholas Patrick Myers, 18, of Sevierville was driving on Bird's Creek Road at about 4:17 a.m. when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, he had negotiated a curve to the left, but his car traveled off the right side of the road as it straightened back out.
The vehicle struck an embankment and rolled several times before coming to rest in a ditch and bursting into flames. The fire destroyed the vehicle, and Myers was found dead inside the car.
Myers was believed to have been drinking and was not wearing restraints, according to trooper Wade Williams' report.
Myers' funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in the west chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Adams officiating. Family and friends will meet at noon Monday in New Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Kingston for graveside service and interment.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Atchley Funeral Home.
