Rev. James Edgar (Ed)Cagley, age 82, of West Knoxville, went home to be with Jesus, his best friend and Savior, on Sunday morning, March 14, 2010. Ed was a faithful member of Centerview Baptist Church for more than 37 years and served as Sunday School teacher of young people. He also attended Woodlawn Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. He sang with the True Lights and Lamberts Gospel Groups. He was retired from Dempster Brothers. Ed was a veteran of the U S Army. He was a devoted and very loving husband, father and grandfather. Ed was preceded in death by foster daughter, Valerie Elaine Kupfer; grandson, Troy McCartney; parents, Jim and Beulah McNew Cagley; sisters, Gladys, Mary and Glenn. Survivors: wife of 62 Years, June Myers Cagley; daughter and son-in-law, Janis Faye and Bob Justice of Knoxville; foster daughter, Connie Williams and companion, David of Kingston; granddaughters, Tina and husband Joe Branam of Powell, Christy Hope Justice and fiancé Niel Corrier; great-grandson, Caleb Branam, who was the light of Ed’s life; foster great-grandson, Tyler Davis; special brother-in-law, Jay Myers of Knoxville; sisters, Ida Cagley; brothers, Hubert, Gilbert, Robert and special brother, Jack; very faithful and loving friends, Nancy and Harold Sutton, Joe Lawson, Brenda and Jim Jenkins, John Newcomb, whom he loved. The family will receive friends 5 to 7:15 p.m. Monday with funeral services to follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. Doug Green and Rev. Dewey Brown officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the East Tennessee State Veterans’ Cemetery for services with full military honors conferred by the East Tennessee Veteran’s Honor Guard.
