    Dave and first wife Mary were married by James Jackson "Clerk". Dave and his second wife Martha were married by W.H. Oliver. He was 58 when he married Martha.

    There is a William Patty age 6 months that died in Jan of 1880 with croup, born in North Carolina, father from Tennessee, mother from North Carolina. This was about the time Dave moved back to Tennessee.

    Log Patty, was 11 years old when the family moved to Tennessee. On the way over the mountains, they had stopped at a small store, he had seen a small jug, and asked for it. He had cried for it after they left, and his father, Dave rode back and got it for him. One of his granddaughter's,
    Ruby, still has it.

    Dave served in the Civil War for the Union, as a Pvt., in Company D., 2nd Tennessee Cav.. He enrolled September 1, 1862, and was mustered out July 1, 1865 in Nashville Tennessee. He later received a pension for his service.

    Dave was working in Polk County, North Carolina, when he met and married his first wife, Mary Melton. They moved to Madison County, North Carolina, then he moved his family back to Blount County, Tennessee.

    and convey to Thomas I. Ogle, his heirs and assigns for the consideration of
    Sixty five dollars to me paid the following described tracts piece or tracts of
    land in the State of Tennessee, Sevier County and District No. 11 and bounded
    as follows, to wit.

    Beginning at a white oak in the low gap at or near Thomas Ogle's line, running
    S four poles and sixteen links to a pine and black oak, S 83 E one hundred and
    forty seven poles to a black gum a corner to a conditional line between the
    said Isaac Ogle and Thomas Ogle, then with the said conditional N 14 W seventy
    eight poles to a beach, N 54.5 E two hundred and five poles to a stake on the
    old line, thence with the same N 33 W sixty poles to a stake, S 85 W two
    hundred and seventy five poles to a stake on the hill, S 15 W one hundred and
